Audio Book Review Michelle Lynn Brown

Miracles in Disguise, The Trampled Rose Series  By Michelle Lynn Brown
Narrated by Jessica Carter Buy Book Here

Sweet Story
This story is about a woman trying to overcome her past. Christina had a rough life because of a stern father and abusive husband. Despite that, she had a passion to help others and be a good teacher. In the end, she was able to grow closer to God and find love again with someone who, not only, was worthy of her through God's eyes, but most importantly, truly loved God himself.

Sound Biblical message
Even though Christina's ex husband misused and distorted God's word to manipulate her, she somehow, still trusted God and knew he would answer her and get her through. She even had some positive and supportive people , such as her new pastor's wife, to remind her of that when she really needed advise.

Parallels
The author had many similarities to remind Christina of her past. The new love interest was a church leader, like her husband. His dog had her ex husband's name. Their was even poor Barbara, a teenager and Christina's student, who was harassed and attacked. All of these things were there to link Christina to memories of her negative experiences. I think there were a few too many parallels, but I understand why the author did it.

The Struggles Were Real
Christina did have real fears that came from real situations. She dealt with them much  like most of us do. She questioned God and blamed him for some things. It is easy to do that when we do not understand what is going on and especially WHY some things happen.

Details  I am a person who likes a bit more description. Not a lot, just enough to get a picture in my head. I'm not sure what Christina or Nathan look like or any of the side characters. A defining detail to help remember them would be nice. I even like a few words about where she lives. Is it brick house? Are there fragrant flowers that line the walkway? Again, not pages and pages of description, just enough to get a picture in my head.

Anti-climactic
There were some parts of the story that I would've loved to have seen developed further. I've discussed them with the author privately because I didn't want to divulge any spoilers for the readers. Another point I will speak about is Barbara who was attacked by her classmate. I would've been interested in Barbara's point of view. Maybe even some of the trial. There were some hints of a rich family and there being some ups and downs that could've hurt her case, but nothing more. I was relieved that she won her case, but it would've been nice to have some indications of how that came to be.

Smooth Talker
The narrator was Jessica Carter. She did a great job. Her voice is easy to listen to and she does a great job making the characters come to life. I would definitely listen to other books narrated by her.

Overall
I think Michelle Lynn Brown is a good writer. I liked her story line and how sound the biblical message was. I got interested enough to want to know more about these people and their lives. My advise to her would be 'tell me more'. I would give this book three stars out of five, because I wanted more information. But, a five out of five for the positive message and biblical beliefs. I may listen to more of her books in the future.  Learn more about Michelle and her books here

I love a good story. I have been reading and writing pretty much from when I could pick up a pencil. Even when I wasn't writing, I was dreaming up stories
in my head. I have always loved fiction. I could be anyone or do anything just from opening the pages of a good book. From a young age I knew I wanted to be involved in that world. The one that can help someone's imagination take them someplace new and exciting.

Now, I'm all grown up with amazing three daughters. I've done some traveling, been married and divorced. I've had both miner and major surgeries. The major surgery has altered my life forever. I've learned the hard way that life is not easy. I let life take over and almost forgot the excitement and fun stories can bring to ones life.

Because of my faith in Christ and the support of my family and friends, I have the courage to start an adventure of my own. I invite you to join me by listening or reading the clean, uplifting and spiritual stories available to us today. ( I'm hoping to share a story or two of my own, someday soon.) Thank you for your time and hope you can be inspired too.

Mail Order Mishap Audio Review

Samantha Fury's Review
Mail Order Mishap
Clean Romance with an Edgy story line
Barbara Goss

Samantha Fury
Audio Reviewer
I'll state that I could write a book when making a review but I like to keep things crisp and to the point. I hope you enjoy my review and that you will consider listening or reading Mail Order Mishap. I've been listening to audio books for over 18 years, and I enjoy a good listen. I also make most of Barbara's Covers and enjoy working with her. I hope you enjoy this review and will consider taking a listen to one of her novels.

Mail Order Mishap

History Lesson
Let me start out my saying this book made me think about the Civil War. It never crossed my mind that after the war there was a shortage of men and that there were many women left widows, some of them with money in the bank others not.

A good way to start a novel
I enjoyed the way Barbara starts her novel, instead of a lot of boring backstory she uses
letters mailed back and forth to keep us up to date about what has been transpiring.

Spoiler Alert

A different kind of love Triangle
This is a bit of a spoiler but it won't take you long to figure it out. The story has a twist and a lot didn't like it because her supposed betrothed was Gay and looking for a marriage of convenience. Some will think this is a bit edgy and there are a few moments that you think the wrong thing is going to happen but it does not. I for one found this a reality novel, and that this could have very well happened.

A fast Listen.
I loved this story it moved fast and though the narrator is not my favorite I didn't have any trouble following who was saying what. I listened to this on my phone and my echo dot and they synced back and forth. A fast good listen.

A Clean/Church Backdrop
Though this book is not Christian to me it's very clean, and a good read.  It takes life as it is, and it's not always what we think it will be. Good things happen along with bad, it's all about what you handle yourself and the decisions you make that determines your outcome.

Garret and Charles the brothers
I fell in love with Garret quickly. He's my type of rugged young man. He can carry a heavy trunk with ease. He's supportive of his brother because he cares for him and  he's handsome what more can you ask for in a cowboy. Oh yes and he has morals though he forgets them now and then but at the right moment he comes to his senses.

Happy Endings.
I do not like to read a book that ends wrong, I do love a happy ending. Life is not always what we want it to be so we sure need a good ending.

What I didn't like
I think every book has something we don't like, but the only thing is that she was rich and didn't cook or clean. I found that a little unrealistic, BUT I am not very familiar with this time period, but that said. I still give it a 5 star.

She knows Charles harbors a secret, and she isn't sure whether Garrett is her friend or her enemy. When she finally discovers the truth, she wants nothing to do with either of them. About the Book
After getting married and having children way too young, recently divorced Presley Williams decides to move on with her life, but not before reliving her teen years while working as a DJ in a teen dance club. As the center of attention, Presley gets caught up in the popularity as well as the drama.

When Presley meets Drew Mansfield, she takes a seat on a roller coaster that turns into the ride of her life. Her best friend and soul mate, Drew becomes Presley’s obsession. But when Drew gets sentenced to years in prison, Presley’s love and loyalty is tested.

In a desperate attempt for companionship, she turns to Drew’s rival and cousin, Kendall Roberts. What starts out as friendship turns to a hot romance that takes Presley by surprise. Now, caught up in a tormenting love triangle with two bad boys, Presley is forced to make the hardest decision of her life. Choices have consequences. Consequences that affect three souls. Three souls knitted together but forever changed. Who will Presley choose?

Now for the review

Who was your favorite character?
I actually have 2, Presley, of course, but also Luke. Presley is the obvious choice, you can relate to her. She has a rough marriage, then ends up divorced with 2 kids, living with her parents basically. She's in her mid 20's and doesn't quite want to grow up yet, to an extent. Next is Luke, even when Presley isn't being the wife she should be, he still stands with her. He loves her, and you cant help but admire that quality. He wants his marriage to work, so he waits patiently until she tells him to leave.

Did this book make you laugh or cry?
Both. There are instances where you're doing both at the same time even. You laugh, cry, get mad, you feel it all.

How long did it take you to read this book?
Only 4-5 hours. Once I started, I didn't stop until I was done.

Would you read another book by this author?
Most definitely!

Did you find the book believable?
I really did. As a woman who was divorced at 22 with a small child, I had some of these same feelings and thoughts. My life wasn't like Presley's, but if my story had been anything like hers, I could see myself responding in some of the same ways.

If this book was made into a movie, who would you see as the leading male?
I can't really come up with anyone right off the top of my head, I'll answer this later lol

What was you favorite thing about Presley/Eve?
She knew in many of the situations that she was in, it wasn't right. Yet she had this urge to just let go. At times she might've let go too much, but she learned from it. I think it made her, in the end, a better mother, wife, and person. Sometimes you have to mess up before you can truly find yourself.

Cover Reveal Deadly Designs

DEADLY DESIGNS ~ cover reveal

Deadly Designs, N
I’m super excited!!! It’s time to reveal the cover for DEADLY DESIGNS… Book #2 in the Veronica “Ronnie” Ingels/Dawson Hughes series
The planned release date is September 15, 2015

Check out the blurb

Private investigator Veronica “Ronnie” Ingels teams up again with Lt. Deputy Dawson Hughes to find a geeky radio broadcaster’s missing wife and young daughter. They fear the woman and child were taken by Islamic terrorists as revenge against a pro-Israel guest host who subbed on the talk show for a week. The investigation takes Ronnie and Hughes to manicured estates, interviewing a snobbish A-List society crowd, as well as to the seamy, drug-riddled underbelly of the fashion world. All the while, the specter of international terrorism hovers.

Ronnie is furious at both Hughes and the broadcaster for waiting two days to start the search. She knows the longer it takes, the less chance there is of finding the child alive. Talk-show host Ed Barton has been hoping-against-hope his pot-smoking, model wife is on one of her esoteric experiences and has simply taken the child while she romps for a few days. He doesn’t want to consider the other, more dangerous possibility…that his radio program has angered some very dangerous people.

Hughes, recently promoted to lieutenant in the TaylorCounty, Texas Sheriff’s Department, is on leave on a special assignment with Authorized Operations (AO), a clandestine, quasi-government agency operating out of a sea-side mansion on Long Island, NY. The only thing is, many politicians and government big-wigs claim the organization doesn’t exist.
